1. Meet Melon
I dunno. I went to the Charleston Animal Society looking for nothing and came back with a something.
Does she look exactly like my other dog, Griff, who recently passed away? Yes. Did I already send in her DNA to see if she is, in fact, related to recently passed dog? Also yes. And will I cry if they’re actually related? Yes of course, I’ll fucking sob.
The thing about dogs is that sometimes the best way to grieve the loss of one is to help another. Dog world is all about paying it forward.
And we did. With this new girl. In a watermelon bandana.
Elfie thinks she’s okay for now. They’re still trying to figure out how to play together because I don’t think Melon has ever lived with another dog before. But I am ever hopeful to watch their and our relationship grow.
2. Does anyone else literally count down the minutes until their next therapy appointment?
I fear I may have a problem. (Many, actually.)
Although, I’m gonna be real with you. I think the EMDR is working as of late, and here’s my proof:
A few times now my therapist has asked me to record data on some of my behaviors…like sleep, for instance.
This is not the first time a therapist has suggested I write things down for the sake of identifying patterns. But for whatever reason, I could never stick to doing it.
I don’t know what stopped me from simply typing
in bed by 11:35pm
in my notes app, but my brain absolutely refused to comply.
Until recently. Out of nowhere, I’m suddenly able to—wait for it—follow through.
Sounds like a little thing. But it makes me feel like maybe we’re getting somewhere. Like we’re chipping away at the tip of the iceberg. Going where no man has gone before: to the depths of my historical trauma.
But time will tell, won’t it?
3. Don’t forget about audiobooks so you can effectively ignore your relatives over the holidays
It’s what Jesus wouldn’t want. If you haven’t listened to the Breathless audiobook yet, what are you waiting for? Now is the time! The future is here! Don’t let your dreams be dreams!

4. The cover for Book 2 in the Secret Monster’s Series is done. And the book is…not too far behind.
I swear. I promise. I believe. There will be a book 2.
